White Gourd

White gourd is healthy obesity diet food which is called fine vegetable for lose weight, containing no fat,low Na,and very few sugar. There are records on book "Herbal Food Therapy" in Chinese Tang Dynasty,"Eating white gourd regularly helps to lose weight".

White gourd has the function of diuresis,clear heat,reducing phlegm and satisfying thirst.

White gourd nourishes stomach,create saliva,clear stomach and internal heat, reducing appetite and eating less,helping to lose weight.

White gourd promotes metabolism and prevents sugar from converting into fat.

Obesity diet food- white gourd recipe

White Gourd with Chicken Soup Recipe


250g white gourd

150g chicken blocks,(cut into small blocks)

5g ginger block

5g shallot section

2 pieces of garlic

1/2 tsp rice wine

1/2 tsp salt

1000g water


1.a. Clean white gourd,cut into slices (best keep the peel).

  b. Cut chicken meat into small blocks.

  c. Boil 500g  water in a soup cooker. Turn off heat,place chicken meat in a strainer,put the strainer in the water and take out at once.(This procedure is to remove chicken smell)

2.a. Pour out water from the cooker.Add the rest 500g water.

  b. Add chicken blocks in the water,Add ginger,shallot,rice wine.

  c. Bring to boil over high heat and then turn to low heat.

  d. Cook for 50mins over low heat.

  e. Add white gourd,add salt to taste.Cook 10mins over medium heat.

  f. Turn off heat. Let the soup stay for 10mins with cover before serve.

Serving Method:(4 servings)

Serve at lunch or/and dinner. 100-200g per serving.
