All kinds of mushroom.  Mushroom, especially black mushroom is one of the favorite food in Shanghai.  Typical dish is Bak Choy with Black Mushroom in the restaurants. Mushroom has lots of health beneficial functions: To remove fat, to prevent cancer,etc.

Preserved vegetables, Suancai in Chinese, sour and salty flavor. In Shanghai  it's used to cook fish.

Rice and other cereal.

All kinds of sweet potato.

Wheat noodle, rice noodle, sticky rice cake,etc.

Tea. Shanghai people like to drink tea, especially green tea. The best green tea Longjing is just in Hang Zhou, a city which is 2 hours drive from Shanghai.

Dried food includes walnut, peanut, Chinese date, chilli, etc.  Chinese date and walnut are usually used in tonic in winter.

Shanghainese consume lots of walnut(peanut) each year.

It's the storing season in winter. Chinese people usually make some tonic to supplement their body.
