Causes of Constipation

Only when you understand the causes of constipation, may you be easy to cure your constipation.

Causes of constipation have two categories: Organic constipation and functional constipation.

Organic constipation is caused by some diseases (including the medicines you have to take because of these diseases). Below is the diseases that may cause constipation.

Gastro-intestinal disease colon ileus Inside cavity-- tumor, reverse. hernia. rectal loss.
Outside cavity--tumor,stenosis (inflammation, after operation)
colon muscle dysfunction irritable bowel syndrome, diverticulosis
anal stenosis or dysfunction
systemic disease metabolic diseases diabetes,carbazole-disease, amyloidosis, uremia, hypokalemia
endocrine Pituitary gland hypofunction, hypothyroidism, hyperparathyroidism associated with hypercalcemia
Muscle disease:on going Systemic sclerosis, dermatomyositis, muscular myotonic dystrophy
medication Analgetic, anesthetic, anticholinergic agents

pathological change

Cerebrovascular accident, brain tumors, Parkinson's disease, spinal injuries, multiple sclerosis

Functional constipation is caused by the life changes,emotion dumps,diet factors,poor bowl movement habit,medication,etc. Belows are the list:

--Dietary factors:

  • Not enough food intake,

  • Not enough food fiber intake

  • Not enough water intake

  • Don't have breakfast

  • Eat too much spicy food

  • Irregular dietary life

  • Over eating and drinking

  • Always eating fast food

--Poor habit of bowl movement

  • Don't go for bowl movement in time,ofen Inhibit bowl movement intention

  • Read when bowl movement

  • Wrong pose when bowl movement(ie.patients)

--Not enough activities

--Long term tired

  • Too much labor work

  • Too much brain work

  • Too much sexual activities

--Lif pressure,tension and busy

--Abuse of laxatives, long-term enema

--Old people

--Pregnant women
