Scallion Pancake

Scallion pancake, onion pancake, ChongYouBing,葱油饼 is a street Chinese food. I’m surprised that it is so popular.


The secret to make tasty scallion pancake is at the dough. After making the dough, you should let the dough stay over night . The dough will be very soft. The pancake will be tender inside and crispy outside.


1 cup all purpose wheat flour

1/4 cup hot water(about 60 cecilia )

1/4 cup room temperature water.


1 tablespoon scallion, chopped

2 teaspoon sesame oil

1 pinch of salt

1 pinch of five-spices


1. Make two pieces of dough with hot water and warm water.

Then mix together and knead well. Put in fridge overnight.

2. ON the second day, take out the dough. Divide into 2 or 3 same size dough.

3. Press the dough into thin flat by using a rolling pin, one by one.

Spread 1 teaspoon sesame oil, scallion, 1 pinch salt, 1 pinch five-spice on the bottom.

Starting from one end, roll and roll into a roll.(step 1 of the picture).

Make circle (step 2 of the picture)

Press thin flat chip. (step 3 of the picture)

4. Spread 1 tablespoon oil in a fry pan.

  Place a piece of dough. Pan fry one side for about 3mins, or till it becomes brown color.

Repeat the other side.

5. Cool. Serve with sauce.
